“Fallset”

A high speed fan for kitchen safety

Project Brief

Every year, unsafe food makes 600 million people ill and causes over 230,000 deaths, with young children most at risk. A key driver is moisture trapped in kitchen tools, which fosters rust, mold, and harmful bacteria. From blenders to coffee machines, these hidden risks threaten household safety. My project tackles this challenge by introducing a compact, high-speed drying solution designed to eliminate moisture quickly, prevent cross-contamination, and create a safer, healthier kitchen environment.

Drying tests compared cloth wiping, shaking, and varied airflow settings. Results showed high-speed airflow reduced drying time to under 30 seconds, though droplets persisted in grooves and blade edges. Nozzles improved focus but needed stronger connections. Combining shaking with airflow proved most effective, validating the product’s potential while highlighting refinement needs in nozzle design and airflow control.

This stage focused on prototyping and assembly. Multiple 3D-printed casings were tested for grip comfort and ergonomics, while internal components such as the motor, battery, and PCB were integrated into the housing. CAD refinements optimized airflow paths, structural strength, and usability, preparing the design for functional evaluation and further iteration.
