Development Process

This project gave me the chance to expand my research and ideation practice and strengthen my identity as a designer who embraces creativity, empathy, and iteration.

I experimented with a range of methods such as co-design workshops, storyboarding, experience prototyping, and LEGO desktop service walkthroughs; choosing each based on the context and research question. These interactive approaches helped create an open and engaging environment where participants felt comfortable exploring their natural shopping routine, as well as pre-purchase triggers, which led to richer insights. Involving 8 participants across 3 key iterations, I used feedback to continuously refine and pivot the concept, ensuring it moved toward a solution that was both user-centred and desirable.

Ideation

The ideation process began with ‘How Might We’ statements to frame the challenge, which were refined into three key directions. Using methods such as Crazy 8s, Frantic 5s, and the How-Now-Wow matrix, a wide range of ideas were generated and prioritised. Concepts were then mapped along the shopping journey, with a strategic focus on the pre- and during-purchase phases, where impulsive behaviour and decision fatigue are most prevalent. To select the strongest concept, a co-design session was conducted with target users.

Experience Prototyping

Prototyping moved from low to high fidelity, with each iteration shaped by continuous user feedback. Low-fidelity prototypes validated the concept through contextual bodystorming, while desktop walkthroughs revealed potential pitfalls. High-fidelity prototypes then tested usability and overall satisfaction.
This process highlighted a unique opportunity: unlike existing apps that only manage what users already own, Fit & Find connects the wardrobe to mindful purchasing habits.

System Mapping

Using systems thinking, the ecosystem was mapped to define partners, revenue, and audience reach, leading to a refined service blueprint with three use cases. Assumptions were validated with industry experts: an ML engineer confirmed technical feasibility but suggested some changes to make it viable, and a fashion brand owner endorsed the B2B revenue model, noting the value of consumer insight reports for reducing returns and improving products. The project ultimately delivers stakeholder value across four perspectives.

Navigating Ambiguity

This project shifted my mindset from chasing instant perfection to embracing continuous learning and growth. I began to see ambiguity as a driver of discovery, allowing insights to shape the direction rather than relying on rigid plans. By treating uncertainty as a strength, I stayed open, adapted to new findings, and let the process guide the outcome. This experience has strengthened my identity as a designer who is curious, empathetic, and adaptable, with the confidence to navigate complexity and create purposeful impact.

Connecting to the Vision Statement

Fit & Find ties back to the vision of supporting young, value-driven consumers in curating a long-lasting wardrobe.
The digital wardrobe and styling address the user’s need by helping them make mindful choices.
The ‘Shop Smart’ features and consumer insights directly tackle the pain points of decision fatigue and unclear information, both for the consumer and the industry.

My Journey in UX Design

I’ve always had a creative side, paired with a strong analytical instinct, which naturally led me to the design field. With a background in interaction design, I gained technical skills and an understanding of how users engage with digital touchpoints. Over time, my curiosity expanded toward consumer behaviour – exploring how experiences can be enhanced, aligned with business needs, and scaled across ecosystems. This is why I chose to focus on a brief centered around young consumers, giving me the opportunity to study their behaviors and decision-making, while shaping solutions that create meaningful impact.

Ambitions as a UX Professional

Through both academic and professional experiences, I have collaborated with diverse teams to conduct research and deliver functional, inclusive, and sustainable solutions. As a UX practitioner, my ambition is to focus on product-centric solutions that not only meet user needs but also create meaningful impact at scale.
